The Russian flag has been raised on two crab catchers of Russian Crab GC

5 June 2024

State flag of the Russian Federation has been raised on two new vessels of Russian Crab GC at once. Crab catcher Kapitan Egorov (ССа 5712LS project) and crab processor Kapitan Manzholin (ССа 5712P) were added to the company’s fleet.

The official ceremony was held in St. Petersburg on June 5, 2024.

The event was attended by State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Victor Evtukhov, Head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov, representatives of shipyards and the customer company.

“Building of modern, well-equipped fishing vessels contributes significantly to the achievement of our technological sovereignty. Domestic shipyards are building a fishing fleet that you can really be proud of. The project meets the latest requirements for automation and digitalization of production, and last but not least, it was created with care for people. I think the crews will appreciate the new level of navigation safety, ergonomics and comfort,” said State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Victor Evtukhov.

“Operation of new crab catchers will influence positively not only on the financial results of the company, but directly on the crews’ salaries. I hope that we will routinely increase building of such vessels and transfer them to customers, and as a result of the second stage of the modernisation program, Russia will have the most modern fleet,” said Ilya Shestakov, Head of Rosrybolovstvo.

“These two vessels demonstrate the potential for diversification of both shipbuilding products and the products of crab catchers. Live or cooked-frozen crab in the world markets means quality. Modern crab catchers – high-tech and reliable – will expand our potential to offer new products and improve quality”, said Director General of Russian Crab GC Yulia Yurova.

Kapitan Egorov is the second vessel in series under ССа 5712LS project delivered to the company by “Onego Shipyard”. The lead vessel was obtained by Russian Crab GC in 2023 and is currently fishing in the Bering Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk. The vessels in the series have a two-level hold with 32 independent tanks for the preservation and transportation of live products. The control of temperature, salinity and oxygen content in the water of the tanks make it possible to ensure the safety of live crab at the level of 98%.

Kapitan Manzholin was built by Shipyard “Oka”. This is a lead crab processor in the series under ССа 5712P project. Vessels of this series are equipped with a modern factory for catch processing with a capacity of 15 tonnes of finished products per day and a freezing hold with a capacity of up to 150 tonnes of products.

Both vessels were ordered by Russian Crab GC upon the results of the first wave of investment auctions.
