Russian Crab Group of Companies increased crab harvesting by 40% in the first half of the year

In the first half of 2024, Russian Crab Group of Companies harvested 9.5 thsd tons of crab, which is 40% higher than the same period last year. The growth of catch volumes is attributed to a new quota package, which the company acquired at the investment auctions in 2023.

“In 2024, 18 th. tons of crab are available for the company to catch. With the new quotas, our catching plan has grown by 50% as compared with the volumes of previous years. The increase is significant, but the company is operating at a good pace. We have utilized a half of the annual quota”, said Director General of Russian Crab GC Yulia Yurova.

In the first half of the year, the company has supplied its customers 7.3 thsd tons of live and cooked-frozen products. At the expense of development of cooperation with Asian countries, a share of live crab in the export structure is growing. The major consumers of this kind of products are China and South Korea. From the comparable period a year earlier, the supplies to these countries have increased by 46% and 69% respectively.
