Russian Crab Group of Companies increased the supplies of live crab to China by 71% in 2023
According to the operating results, in 2023 the fleet of Russian Crab Group of Companies harvested 11.7 thousand tons of crab, which is 20% of the total volume of catch of all companies harvesting king and premium crab species in the Far Eastern fishery basin. The Company utilized 99.2% of the volume of quotas available for utilization in the reporting period.
Last year, Russian Crab Group of Companies increased the supplies of live crab to China up to 8.6 thousand tons, which is by 71% higher than in 2022.
“With the turn of export flows to the East, the volume of all-Russian supplies of king and premium crab species to China has grown by 65%: the Northern Basin crab producers also send their catch to this market now. However, owing to the high quality of its products, Russian Crab Group of Companies continues holding leadership in the Chinese direction even in the face of serious growth in competition. Last year, the share of the company in Russian supplies of live crab to the PRC reached 28%,” said Alexander Sapozhnikov, Director General of Russian Crab Group of Companies.
In the reporting period, the company’s products were also represented on the markets of Russia, Japan, Middle East countries, South Korea, and Mexico.
The Company continued expanding its product range, which now consists of 21 products, including deep-processed foods. In 2023, the production of retail products was launched; it includes several kinds of premium tinned products and different varieties of vacuum-packed crabmeat.
During the year, the operating crab fishing fleet of Russian Crab Group of Companies was increased to 39 vessels. It includes a modern crab fishing vessel Kapitan Aleksandrov built by the company within the framework of the state programme of investment quotas. It should be noted that the vessel was the first among the Russian vessels of 5712LS project to go fishing.
Since 2024, Russian Crab Group of Companies owns the rights for harvesting 18.2 thousand tons of crab in the subzones of the north-west Pacific, which is the largest volume of crab quotas in the Far Eastern fishery basin.
A new quota package was acquired in the auctions of the second stage of the investment quota programme in October 2023. Its cost amounted to 57.1 bln rubles. As part of the investment commitments following the results of the auctions, the Company will build 6 more modern crab fishing vessels and a logistics complex in the Far East. The implementation of all projects will commence this year.
The company’s significant achievements in other areas of activity include: joining the federal project Professionalitet that provides for investments in further professional education in industry-related specialities; launching its own career guidance project aimed at attracting young people to the industry; receiving another award for the first place in the regional stage of the All-Russian Award in the field of international cooperation and export Exporter of the Year.
